Feb 25, 2014: In a continuing effort to educate children and teens about the role healthy oceans play, Amanda Cotton visited New Directions for Youth, a Los Angeles based at-risk youth center, to share her stories and experiences as an underwater photographer. Learning about the ocean, it’s inhabitants and the dangers many marine animals now face, the teens quickly realized the need for future ocean advocates to protect them. These at-risk teens and preteens lit up at the possibilities of helping sharks, whales and dolphins. Talk quickly turned to college degrees, life outside of inner city struggle and making a difference in the world; while giving these children support in following their dreams.
