WYLAND ASSISTS in RELEASING SEA TURTLES; Islamorada, FL
Happy Valentine’s Day! In the sprit of Valentine’s Day volunteers from The Turtle Hospital and Save a Turtle org.joined together to release two loggerhead sea turtles, a male and female. With a large crowd of over 300 people, we carried the turtles to the beach behind Mile Marker 88 restaurant and watched as the male and female swam free and healthy into the warm waters of Florida Bay that borders the National Everglades Park.
The turtles were rescued here in the Florida Keys. Every turtle that we save helps their survival against the many threats sea turtles face today.
Some of the threats are boat strikes, pollution, fishnets, and people gathering their eggs. It was a great day for all of us who love turtles and want to ensure they are protected.
I’m heading down to Key West right now for two Wyland Gallery shows, tonight and tomorrow from 6-10pm. I am planning to unveil the two original paintings I completed with Pierre H. Matisse. I hope you can join me, and see you in Key West.
